Training Workshop held in San Salvador
A workshop to train facilitators in using the Toolkit for Ethics Education through Interfaith Learning was held in El Salvador 1 - 5 November 2007. 18 participants from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras representing Bahá´í, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism gathered to learn and share ways to work together to nurture ethical values in children and youth in Central America. The workshop was organized in cooperation with Religions for Peace in El Salvador.

GNRC Sri Lanka dispatched story books about Ethics for Children
GNRC Sri Lanka has dispatched a series of story books about Ethics for Children. The story books will be used by the Early Childhood Development Unit (ECDU) of the Sarvodaya work, active around the country and reaching a big number of children. The ECDU arranges after school sessions for children to develop their creativity, through sports and recreational activities. They also support children's education by establishing libraries in various villages. The story books will be sent to these libraries to allow as many children as possible to have access to them.

Workshop on how to use the Toolkit held in Bogotá, Colombia
A three day workshop was organized in Bogotá, Colombia to introduce the Toolkit for Ethics Education through Interfaith Learning to adults and youth leaders working with children and youth in Colombia and Ecuador. The participants discussed how the Toolkit can be used to address the ethical challenges that children and youth face. The participants also explored the role religious organizations can play in nurturing values and spirituality in children, specifically in a context of violence and social and economic inequalities.

300 Children Come Together in Coimbatore, India for “Ethics – Care and Share”
Every Year Shanti Ashram brings together 300 rural children from 25 local government & private schools in the Run for Unity programme. The first run 4 unity took place on 9th Oct, 2005, under the patronage of the United Nations. The theme for this year's program was Discovering the Other. The morning session began with a rally from a neighbouring school to Shanti Ashram, followed by sharing of experiences of children. In the afternoon session the participating children were guided by different Resource Persons in addressing Ethics Education covering Respect, Empathy, Reconciliation and Responsibility. The event was a prelude to the South Asia Ethics Promotion Campaign.

The South Asia Ethics Campaign sparks off in India
The Coordination Committee for the India Ethics Campaign met at the Shanthi Ashram in Coimbatore 27 - 29 November to discuss the Campaign Plans in India. The Committee discussed various issues pertaining to the Ethics Promoting Campaign of the South Asia Region, which is targeted at the GNRC Third Forum. India plays a vital role in South Asia, being the biggest country in the region with a diverse community.

GNRC Sends Open Letter to UN Secretary-General for WFFC+5
For the World Fit for Children Plus Five review session of the UN General Assembly today, Rev. Takeyasu Miyamoto, President of the Arigatou Foundation, issued an open letter to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to follow up on the GNRC's commitment at the Special Session on Children in May 2002. The GNRC continues to call for greater commitment to ending children's suffering and pledges to do its part by mobilizing world religious leaders and communities to take shared action for children.
