Activities - Interfaith Council

The Interfaith Council on Ethics Education for Children, an initiative of the Global Network of Religions for Children (GNRC), manifests itself in different constellations and through both actions and networking.  It serves as an international resource centerand nexus for dialog, partnership and action on the theory and practice of ethics education for children.

The GNRC is since some years involved in Ethics Education for Children as GNRC Initiatives in six major regions of the world.

Members of the Council meet once a year for deliberations to review and recommend the overall direction of the ethics education initiative, issue a communiqué, statement or message and release the annual report on the progress of ethics education.

An Interfaith Council Committee meets twice annually to address practical matters related to content and to strategies required for the promotion of ethics education. The Committee form or divide into taskforces or working groups when necessary.

The Council Secretariat is facilitating the meetings of the council and the committee and implements the recommended activities. Currently there is a focus on developing a manual for ethics education for children, called Learning to Live Together. There are also plans to further engage in a reflection on media’s influence on transmitting values and on how to improve the participation of children and young people in the ethics education initiative.
